We are so excited to share that Phase 1 of our newest permanent exhibit has just opened!
Housed in the former Pre-School Playpark gallery space, Centennial Farm is a place where visitors big and small can learn about food production, plant and animal life cycles, and the farm-to-table connection in order to make healthy choices about food and exercise. Phase 1 features a kid friendly farm scene from the early 1920s, with a farm house, citrus and avocado orchard, garden and farm stand. Once completed Centennial Farm will also feature a barn, tractor shed, chicken coop, bee hive, soft pond, reading tree and various farm animals.
This exhibit is also a wonderful opportunity for celebrating the 100th anniversary of the founding of La Habra and helping visitors understand the community and lifestyle of one hundred years ago. Part of the design will incorporate details which denote the agricultural history of the City of La Habra, and the historic Hispanic demographic of the area. Built into each section will be enriching elements to foster child development, with the target audience at ages toddler to 6 years. Informational graphics in each section will be in both English and Spanish. Click here to read about all of the features of this long-awaited exhibit.
