The United States Flag Code outlines proper flag etiquette and states that when an American flag becomes worn, faded, torn or soiled, it should be retired. There are several ways to respectfully dispose of it; the most common method is burning it in a special ceremony. On Saturday, June 13th, the City, in conjunction with American Legion Post 267, La Habra; Boy Scout Troop & Crew 871; and the Los Angeles County Fire Department, will hold a Flag Retirement Ceremony. . The event will take place from 9:00-10:00 a.m. at El Centro-Lions Park. All are invited to attend.
If you have a flag that needs to be retired, you may bring it to the Community Center, 101 W. La Habra Blvd., or to the event. However, these flags will NOT be retired during the ceremony; rather, they will be held for a future flag retirement event.
