Caterpillar Care Instructions

  • Keep cup upright, indoors, and away from direct sunlight. Room temperature is best!

  • Keep the container closed to avoid contamination. The caterpillar will stay inside the cup until 24 hours after it forms its chrysalis. Don't worry, there are enough air holes for your caterpillar to breathe!

  • When your caterpillar is done growing, it will crawl to the top of the cup and form its chrysalis.

    • If the chrysalis happens to fall, no worries! Just place the chrysalis on the bottom of the enclosure

  • Wait 24 hours after the chrysalis has formed before removing the filter it is attached to, then transfer into a netted shoe box with a stick for the butterfly to rest on.

  • Mist your chrysalis lightly every few days. Do not saturate!!

  • Within 7-10 days your butterfly will begin to emerge from its chrysalis.

  • You can feed your butterfly with a cotton ball soaked in brown sugar water or give it an orange slice.

  • Release your butterfly after a day or two.
