A Message from the Housing & Economic Development Manager

Welcome to La Habra's Economic Development Home Page. Economic Development is vital to the City and the retention and attraction of businesses allows us to grow and meet the needs of our residential and commercial population. La Habra is a gateway city into North Orange County and has a variety of national retailers and mom and pop shops, restaurants, and entertainment options that makes La Habra a fun place to live, work and play.

We designed our webpage to be user-friendly. We have included business resources, demographic information, development opportunities and more. My goal is to continue to provide new resources that will help our businesses thrive. Should you need further assistance please feel free to contact me directly, my staff and I are here to assist you.

Thank you so much for visiting us!

What is Economic Development?

Economic development is the sustained, concerted actions of policy makers and communities that promote the standard of living and economic health of a specific area. Economic development can also be referred to as the quantitative and qualitative changes in the economy. Such acts can involve multiple areas including development of human capital, critical infrastructure, regional competitiveness, social inclusion, health, safety, literacy, and other initiatives. Economic development differs from economic growth. Whereas economic development is a policy intervention endeavor with aims of economic and social well-being of people, economic growth is a phenomenon of market productivity and rise in GDP.
