Policies and Procedures
The City of La Habra has developed the following policies and procedures for temporary outdoor dining in order to facilitate the re-opening of restaurants during required social distancing protocols.
THE CITY WILL TEMPORARILY ALLOW FOR FLEXIBILITY IN OUTDOOR DINING, INCLUDING:
- Waive permit and processing fees
- Increase the current code limit of 250 square feet
- Use of parking spaces, parking lots and landscape areas
- Possible use of public street and right-of-way on a limited basis
CRITERIA/RECOMMENDATIONS:
- Obtain property owner permission
- Consider creating shared dining areas for multiple restaurants in a common area where practical
- Ensure that the proposed dining areas can be made safe for dining by using barriers and signage
- Maintain a 3 foot wide accessible path of travel at all times
- Follow all health orders and guidance for restaurants provided by the Governor’s Office and Orange County
- Comply with the applicable Alcoholic Beverage Control regulations for alcohol service
